A Ministry Focused on the Role of Men

A Distinctive of Ames Community Church

Our ministry is not exclusive to men, rather for men, so that they can be the best they can be. Real men love and nurture their wives, daughters, girlfriends. Real men are godly role models to their sons. Real men aren't afraid to stand up and be men of God. We have a focused ministry of getting men in the zone. A distinctive of Ames Community Church (PCA).

We Have Men Learn Through Personal Discovery

We let men discover truth for themselves. We are about asking questions, and not just giving answers.

We Have Men Learn by Hands On Experience

Men are changed by personal experiences. There are lessons men cannot learn by a lecture or a book.

We Have Men Be Real, Not Religious

Enough said.

We Have Men Ask Questions and Challenge the Party Line

Jesus said, ‘You have heard it said... but I say..." Whenever the disciples heard this their ears perked up because they knew another sacred cow was about to be slaughtered.

Men Need Dialogue, Give and Take, a Chance to Argue (not augmentative)

Christians are afraid of frank salty debate because people might get upset. Instead we give people answers because we think it promotes unity. NEWSFLASH! - Honest debate teaches unity!

Men Appreciate Forthrightness

Was there anyone more direct and to the point than Jesus?

Men Need Challenging Teaching

The harder hitting and more frank the teaching the more men like it, as long as it does not stray into moralism or condemnation.

Men Need the Unexpected

The Bible says of Jesus: The people were astonished and amazed at His teaching. When was the last time you were astonished and amazed at church?

We Emphasize Strength over Weakness

The words strong and strength appear 561 times in scripture, while weak and weakness appear just 83 times. It is far more effective to speak of strength when teaching men.

We Stay faithful to Scripture

"There is virtually no market among secular people for new theologies or alleged improvements upon original Christianity" - George Hunter

Men Need Transformation Rather than Moral Improvement

Jesus message was one of repentance. Many teachers focus on moral improvement instead of total repentance. Moralism makes men resentful. They see it as nagging. Once a man is following after Jesus he will accept instruction because of his transformed heart.

True Christianity is a fight. Men need to get in the game.
